In the first years of the establishment of the university, the foundation for the study of physics was laid, and the faculty of physics and mathematics provides education to students in the fields of physics, astronomy, mechanics, and geophysics, as well as scientific and research work in various fields of physics. conducted. According to the order of the rector of the Central Asian State University No. 276 dated June 20, 1959, the physics-mathematics faculty was divided into two separate faculties, and the physics faculty began to operate independently.
In the current perspective of the Faculty of Physics, the works of famous scientists and specialists who led it are incomparable. These are the faculty deans: prof. V.A. Georgiou (1959-1964), Assoc. The faculty has 73 professors and teachers, including 4 academicians of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, 19 doctors of science and professors, 39 candidates of sciences and associate professors. At the moment, the faculty is preparing a bachelor’s degree in 2 fields of study and a master’s degree in 7 specialties. In addition, the faculty has DSc and PhD doctoral programs.
In order to organize students’ educational and professional internships and the completion of master’s dissertations and graduation qualification work at a high level, they regularly visit the Institute of Ion Plasma and Laser Technologies of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Institute of Astronomy, the Institute of Nuclear Physics, the Institute of Physics and Technology of the Solar Physics Institute of the Republic of Uzbekistan. , the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of Polymers and other branch institutes of the Academy of Sciences, as well as the Photon and Phonon Special Design Bureau, are sent to scientific laboratories with modern material and technical bases.
The information resource center of the Faculty of Physics has a fund of more than 100,000 books and is equipped based on today’s requirements. An 80-seat study hall and an Open Fund of magazines have been established. More than 400 educational literature, about 50 new laboratory works have been created by the professors and teachers of the faculty and are being used in the educational process.
The faculty organizes and conducts scientific-research works at a high level. During the next five years, the participation in grant contests at the international and national level increased sharply. More than 10 international and republican grants, scientific subject and economic contracts are executed by the professors and teachers of the Faculty of Physics.
Today, the faculty team works in cooperation with many universities and institutes of foreign countries. Including: Kyiv National University of Ukraine, Kharkiv University, Kharkiv Institute of Physics, St. Petersburg University of Optics and Mechanics of Russia, Pusan University and Chunghai National University of South Korea, Potsdam University of Germany, Belgrade Astronomical Observatory and Institute of Radio Astronomy, Moscow State University, Dubna of Moscow Region international United Nuclear Research Institute (BYaTI), Mainz, Bern universities in Germany, Moscow Energy Institute, A.F. We cooperate with scientists of leading institutes and universities, such as the Ioffe Institute of Physics and Technology (St. Petersburg), the Institute of Materials Science Problems (Ukraine), the Institute of Physics and Chemistry (Urumqi, China) in the fields of teaching and research.
Graduates of the Faculty of Physics are in great demand among consumers, and most of them work in institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, medical diagnostic centers, organizations belonging to the Ministry of Defense, central geological laboratories, universities, academic lyceums and vocational schools. they work in vocational colleges and public enterprises.
