History of the department

  • The department was founded in 1920 as the “Citology” department. Head of department prof. Pavel Aleksandrovich Baranov.
  • In 1925, it was named after the “Plant Morphology and Biology” department. Head of the department prof. P.A. Baranov.
  • In 1938, it was named after the “Plant Morphology and Anatomy” department. Head of the department prof. P.A. Baranov.
  • In 1945, it was named after the “Darwinism and Selection” department. Head of the department prof. I.A. Raykova.
  • In 1950, it was named after the chair of “Darwinism and genetics”. Head of the department prof. I.A. Raykova.
  • 1961-1981 Named after the chair “Darwinism, genetics, experimental morphology”. Head of the department prof. I.A. Raykova.
  • 1974 – a private cotton genetics laboratory was established under the department. As the head of the laboratory, Ph.D., prof. Musaev D.A. carried out activities.
  • 1982-1988 Named after the chair “Darwinism, genetics, experimental morphology”. Head of the department B.F.N., Assoc. M.F. Abzalov.
  • 1989-2014 It is called “Genetics and Cytoembryology”. The head of the department is Academician D.A. Musaev.
  • 2015 It is called “Genetics and Cytoembryology”. Head of the department b.f.n. Latipova E.
  • 2016-2017 It is called “Genetics and Computational Biology”. Head of the department B.F.N., Assoc. Halbekova H.U.
  • From 2018 until now, it has been called the “Genetics” department, and the head of the department is Dr. Ph.D., Assoc. Boboev S.G. is operating.
