The Department of Geometry was established in 1971. Its first leader was professor M.A. Sobirov is. In different years, associate professor A.V. Mironov (1975-1985), professor A. Ya. Narmanov (1990-1993), (2000-2016) and professor A. Ortiqboev (1993-2000) were the directors. Since 2016, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor R.B. Beshimov is in charge.
    Professor M.A. Sobirov was a great scientist and enlightened person who graduated from Moscow State University. Under his co-authorship, in 1956, a textbook on differential geometry course was published for the first time in Uzbek language.
Currently, the Department of Geometry and Topology conducts scientific research in two areas: Layer theory and its applications and cardinal properties of topological spaces.
    The department has cooperative relations with Moscow State University, Saint Petersburg State University, Novosibirsk State University, Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, higher educational institutions of all regions, University of Warwick (Great Britain) and the University of Japan, and scientific centers such as CIMPA, ICTI.
The team of the department is conducting scientific research on the topic funded by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
    The department has a master’s degree and a doctoral degree, and in 5 years, 2 doctors of science, 6 candidates of science and about 40 master’s theses were successfully defended. Among the masters are winners of the state scholarship named after Mirzo Ulugbek and participants of the World Olympiad.
    Scientific articles of students of the department are published in the prestigious journals of our republic and foreign countries. At the initiative of professors and teachers of the department, international and national scientific conferences are being canceled in our republic.
    Professors and teachers of our department regularly participate in international conferences, congresses and school seminars held in countries such as Japan, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan. A scientific seminar is held regularly in the department.
